Over the past year and a half, Archuleta School District has worked with staff, families, community members, and technical experts to evaluate the condition of our schools and plan responsibly for the future. This process included building assessments, enrollment studies, educational adequacy reviews, community surveys, and the work of the Master Planning Advisory Committee.
The goal has been simple: ensure students learn in safe, functional, and future-ready schools while being responsible stewards of taxpayer resources. The journey reflected careful analysis, strong community engagement, and thoughtful decision-making about how to best support students today and for decades to come.
This interactive map walks through the key milestones that led to the Board’s decision to pursue a new PK–8 school and outlines what comes next as the district explores funding and long-term planning.
