District Health Advisory Council Launches 'Grab n Go' Breakfast Bags at the High School

Grab and Go breakfast/snacks at the High School! An opportunity brought to you by the Food Service department and student input at our Health Advisory Council’s meeting this year in November. A discussion around food, kids habits and our HKCS (Healthy Kids Colorado Survey) 2019 data (which stated that 65.5% of the High School students surveyed did not eat breakfast), lead to a suggestion from Junior Arden Blakemore that students want and need snacks, just not necessarily at breakfast time. Thank you to Todd Stevens and his staff for making this happen! The Health Advisory Council is made up of parents, school staff, students and community members.

Governor announces BINAX rapid COVID-19 test to be provided to schools soon

On Tuesday of last week, the Governor met with superintendents to share highlights from the report. In the report, the task force called for increased testing and mitigation. He shared that the state is planning to provide BINAX rapid tests to schools and districts. We are not sure exactly when those will arrive, but the plan is to have testing available, should a student or staff
member begin to experience symptoms during a school day. The test would allow for early
detection and therefore, minimize spread of COVID. The District is hopeful that this will be yet another tool that we can use to help us keep our students and staff safe.
