Board Members

Meet our Board of Education

The School Board is responsible for the operation of Archuleta County’s public schools in accordance with Colorado State Department of Education regulations and to uphold and assist Archuleta School District’s educational mission. Board members are elected to a four-year term with an election being held in non-general election years. Board members are term-limited after serving their second full term.

The regular meeting is held at 6:00 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The Board's work session begins at 5:00 pm.  School board agendas are usually posted on the Thursday prior to the scheduled meeting. Due to unforeseen circumstances, board agendas, including attachments, MAY be posted 24 hours prior to the meeting. As soon as the agenda has been posted you can view it at www.boarddocs.com/co/asdco/Board.nsf/Public as well as archived agendas and minutes.

Bob Lynch was appointed to the Board in January of 2019, elected to the Board in November 2019, and re-elected in November 2023.  Mr. Lynch is a Pagosa Springs graduate, had a 30 year career in Management Consulting working with large corporations in the US and Internationally, is a co-author of four books on management practices and organizational excellence, has served as a coach for the Pagosa Springs High School Basketball team, owns a local cattle ranch and currently serves as Board Chair for LPEA Board of Directors.

Dana Guinn was appointed to the board in November 2019, elected to the board in November 2021, and re-elected in November 2023. Mrs. Guinn moved to Pagosa Springs in 2013 and served as an educator for Archuleta School District from 2015 – 2019. She currently works in the non-profit sector coordinating collaborative processes for natural resource and landscape management in the Southwest. Mrs. Guinn holds an M.Ed in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education and an M.Ag. in Agricultural Resource Management. She also maintains her secondary mathematics teaching license.

Tim Taylor was appointed to the Board in September 2020 and elected in November 2021. A Colorado native from Loveland, he received his degree in chemistry from Colorado State University, where he participated in varsity cross country and track. He received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Colorado. Dr. Taylor had an extensive research career and now serves as chief science officer for an international bioscience consulting group. Locally, he has served on numerous school district and pre-K committees and on local boards. His three daughters have matriculated through our local schools, taking advantage of their many and varied opportunities for involvement and academic success.

Amanda Schick was appointed to the board in January 2022 and elected in November 2023. Mrs. Schick moved to Pagosa in 2019 to be closer to family and to turn a professional page. She spent 16 years in the field of collegiate coaching. Amanda holds her National Board Certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in children and family practice. Amanda is also a Licensed Professional School Counselor. She works part-time at Pagosa Peak Open School as well as in private practice. Mrs. Schick also holds a Master's in Administration.

Butch Mackey was appointed to the board in January 2022 and elected in November 2023. Mr. Butch Mackey moved to Pagosa Springs from Texas in 1987. He has worked in various sales and marketing positions for his 40-year career at a US-based manufacturing company. Butch is also a partner in a local business. He has served on numerous boards since moving to Pagosa Springs including
the PSHS Booster Club, Archuleta County Fair Board, and the Archuleta
Economic Development Board. He and his wife have four children that
completed their K-12 education in the Archuleta School District, three of which still live in Pagosa Springs and have children of their own entering the district.
